What’s in my Gym Bag?  When I go to the gym, I need to be prepared.  If not, I become stressed and it takes a toll on my workout.

For the past few years, working out has been part of my everyday routine. Whether it’s lifting at the gym, going to a yoga class or heading outside for a run, I try to exercise once a day.

I would consider myself athletic. I have played lacrosse and ice hockey since I was 4 years old and I continue to play both sports, but my regular workout routine consists of going to the gym. Since I am a “fair weather” runner, I usually do not start running outside until the spring and summer.

Since I am always on the go, whether to school or work, I always have my gym bag on me.  There are a few things that I cannot go to the gym without, just like the proper carry-on essentials when you travel!

Just like the proper carry-on essentials when you travel, there are a few things that I cannot go to the gym without.

The first essential item is a bag. My gym bag is from Lululemon. I am a big fan of having specific compartments for all of my accessories, and this bag delivers. Lululemon even tells you what to put in each pocket, bonus! Having specific pockets for all my gym bag essentials makes me happy (I love organization).

Here’s a list of the things I can’t go to the gym without…

Gym Shoes. I have two pairs of shoes that I always carry with me. I have a structural running shoe for the treadmill, and for when I decide that the weather is nice enough to run outside. And, I also have a cross training shoe that I specifically use for lifting and doing classes at the gym.

Cycling Shoes.  This one is simple. I use these during cycling classes at the gym. I find that specific cycling shoes help me do more work with less effort.

A lock. For obvious reasons.  I do not like leaving my personal items unattended, so I always have a lock on me.

Wireless Headphones. They were an investment, but they are amazing. I would highly recommend Jaybird X3 Sport Bluetooth Headphones, Blackout.

Skin Care Products + Deodorant. I basically take my whole skin care routine with me to the gym. This includes my toner, moisturizer, a moisturizer with sun screen, and face wash.  I also bring my all-natural deodorant for obvious reasons.

A reusable water bottle. I never leave the house without one!

A reusable tumbler. I always bring a smoothie with me to the gym to have after my workout. Having a tumbler to keep my smoothie cold is a must. I love using my Healthy Human 20 oz Cruiser.  It is the perfect addition to my workout bag to ensure I always fuel my body after my workouts.

Now you tell me! What’s in your gym bag?

What a great list! We have been spending our evenings at the pool, so my bag has lots of extra towels (it’s hard to get dry in a humid environment!), and everything I need for a shower after. 🙂 Trying to wrestle two little children into the shower in a public place is lots of fun. 🙂

Great point! Towels are a must, especially if you’re going to work/school after the gym! Thanks for the kind comment Melissa! Have a great Tuesday 🙂

I haven’t had to pack a gym bag in so long, I forgot what goes in there lol. But I am getting back in the gym and needed the reminder. Great post.

I too make a point of exercising every day and I’m always glad to get a peek into other people’s gym bags. I’ve yet to take the plunge and purchase wireless headphones, but have noticed so many people are using them lately. Also, thanks for the tips about the tumbler, that’s a great idea to for an post-workout smoothie

This is a great list! I love the idea of bringing your whole skincare routine to the gym, I have never though of that!! I hate having to drive home from the gym with a sweaty face but need to use moisturizer ASAP after washing my face so it doesn’t dry out!

I know! My face does the same. Toner + moisturizer after the gym is a must! Thanks for the comment, Nicole!
